“सुर्योपनिषत्”/ Surya Upanishad / Surya Atharvaseersham
“सुर्योपनिषत्” Surya Upanishad / Surya Atharvaseersham, is one among the 5 Atharvaseershas coming from Vedas.
Worship of Sun God, Surya, has been practiced since Vedic times. Surya is Paramatma, Sriman Narayana. There are several Upanishads, Stotras, Mantras, Yantras and representations of Bhagavan in all 4 Vedas. One example is the Aruna Prashna.
The hymns in the Surya Atharvaseersha belong to Atharva Veda, and are in praise of the Sun. Surya Atharvaseersha is also called Atharvaangirasah Vidya and Saavitri Vidya; revealed to us by two great Rishis – Atharva and Angirasa.
We should comprehensively understand what Lord Surya means to us. He is said to remove sins or doshas of people, enhance health and wealth, and gain benefits in several areas of our life.
