There are a number of Vedic texts. Each Veda has 4 divisions and include the following texts– Samhitas, Brahmanas, Aaranyakas and Upanishads. Each of these has further subdivisions.

In Sanskrit, texts are called ‘Grantas’. “Grataanat grantah” – means sewed together, or to bring together. There is order in the formula of life despite vastly scattered knowledge.
Samhita means compilation–the floating mass of knowledge is brought together in order and introduced in portions.
It is said the great Guru Vyasa Maharshi brought together the knowledge, Vyasa means editor.

Every Mantra has a character, signification, reward, suggestion, power and magic, it also helps in knowing Vedic Heritage.
