Rishi “Patanjali” – Insights from Yoga & Vedanta
Our ancient culture believed in creating stories behind everything, so that it becomes like a living kind of expression for eternity.
Yoga has existed on Planet Earth all along from the beginning, a way of life, and recordings are in Vedas and Puranas.
The basis for life is philosophy. In the beginning someone came forward to write formulae, compiling the knowledge, ideas, philosophy which is already there in life in the form of Sutras, aphorisms and it was Rishi ‘Patanjali’; a pure human being he was who knew the birth and origin of human beings.
The Sutras contain the science of Self, personality, and it is all about inner science, a knowledge pathway bridging the outer world. Patanjali Yoga Sutras are 95 sutras in number divided into 4 chapters. Extraordinary about these is, ‘Sankhya’ is something which talks more about the world outside, the manifested world, but Patanjali talks about your something inside, within, your mind, prana, and various activities going on inside. One can claim that his Yoga Sutras are more scientific than science itself. Science will not address anything without definition.
Rishi Patanjali defines every aspect, every term in a precise manner including Ishwara – Sutra 1-24 :
“Klesha Karma Vipaka Ashayaih Aparamrushtaha Purusha Visheshah Ishwaraha” – Ishwara the distinguished being who is free from afflictions, actions, fruits of actions and impressions.
Watch for detailed insights on the Rishi Patanjali and his Sutras, as our scholar Sri. Raghuramji eloquently, eruditely takes one into the inner world of the Rishi himself, unraveling the wealth of knowledge and wisdom.
